Charitable Support Provided in 2021

Myanmar

During the past three years, the Andreas Moritz Light Trust has been providing financial support to the Adonai Child Rehabilitation (ACR) orphanage for important repairs and reconstruction of their physical facilities, as well as food and provisions for daily sustenance.

Beginning February 1, 2021, Myanmar underwent a military coup d’état, endangering the lives of virtually everyone in the country, and disrupting essentially all support systems, including the food supply chain. For their safety, it was necessary to relocate the children of the orphanage to remote areas of the country for an extended period of time.

In light of this, virtually all of the financial assistance that the Andreas Moritz Light Trust provided to the ACR orphanage during 2021 was for food and other essential supplies to support the children and its dedicated staff. Fortunately, as the year-end approaches, we are grateful to report that the children of the orphanage are once again able to live in relative safety and security, with sufficient food and other necessities being met, and the devoted staff able to focus on the education and loving care of the orphans.

Viet Nam

As noted in the Andreas Moritz Light Trust funding program for 2020, severe flooding took place in Viet Nam, negatively impacting many orphanages. Accordingly, this year’s charitable support was directed toward repairing serious damage and restoring functionality in several orphanages that were in urgent need, in addition to supplementing food supplies.

During the past few years, the Andreas Moritz Light Trust has provided funding support for various improvement projects at The Baobab Home, a small family-operated orphanage.

This year the most pressing need was to upgrade the outdoor plumbing with the construction of a new, eco-friendly water and sewage system to replace an old septic system that was failing.

Charitable Donations

Your contribution will give children without parents opportunities for a brighter future. We want you to know that we are very conscientious about keeping administrative costs to an absolute minimum. In fact, over 99% of the charitable donations received are directed toward projects supporting the children.

All charitable donors (individuals, groups, companies and organizations) will receive a receipt from the Andreas Moritz Light Trust, a non-profit foundation with 501(c)(3) designation in the USA, that a bona fide tax-deductible charitable donation has been made in the USA and, therefore, can be applied to one’s tax return in the USA (acknowledged by the Internal Revenue Service as a legitimate charitable deduction).

Since we are not aware of the specific rules or policies that apply to tax-deductible charitable contributions in other countries (outside of the USA), we recommend that you please consult with your tax advisor or accountant for insight into this for the country in which you live.
